Fall is in full force and I’m trying my best to keep up with daily walks watching the leaves turn from green to yellow, orange and red. I have a lot of things cooking right now and I’m so excited to share them soon! But for now: Here are my Three Things Friday that made me happy this week.
I’ve dreamed of working for myself as long as I can remember. I love working, but working as an employee has never really been my thing, or I just haven’t found the right job yet. When we moved to Åre I decided that I really wanted to try my luck as a business owner, and focus on finding freelance gigs and clients rather than have a full time job. Then the pandemic hit. Gigs were cancelled, freelance jobs were put on hold and I started getting nervous, having just purchased a house and used up most of my savings on the down payment.
This pandemic is freaking terrible and if you’re like me, currently without a steady income you probably have some anxiety about it, I sure do. Just ask my boyfriend if he’s tired of me grinding my teeth at night! So I put together a list of what I’ve done and am doing to keep myself busy until the jobs start flowing in again – or at least here’s to hoping!
Happy Friday! It’s the end of another wonderful week and it’s also the end of summer here in Åre. The temperature has dropped to 50 degrees and the leaves are slowly turning yellow. But I couldn’t be happier, I love fall!
If you read my post Summer detox for your brain you know that I after vacation, living in quarantine and working to start a new business felt a serious need to get my planning in order so to not end up procrastinating my weeks away. I also needed to prioritize all my to-do’s so I didn’t end up focusing on the wrong things.
To get myself setup for success I decided to also start doing a weekly refresh, something I learned from muchelleb’s and The Bliss Bean’s youtube channels, go check out their channel if you’re a productivity nerd like me. I decided to call mine a End of week reset since I like to do my refresh on Friday’s, a lot of people like to do theirs on Sunday’s, but I love taking a chunk out of my Friday afternoon and getting it all together, that way I don’t have to take time out of my cherished weekend. As a small business owner for the last 8-ish years, who most of that time also had a full time job or studied full time, I’ve decided that my weekends are for fun, friends and relaxation – not work if I don’t want to burn out at 35.
It’s September! Yay! I truly love fall. I love drinking massive amounts of tea, wearing big knitted sweaters and warm tights to skirts. This year fall feels extra special since I get to experience it in a new magical mountain setting.
The leaves have already started to turn yellow here and the temperature has dropped to 50 degrees so most days when I wake up there’s fog stretching over the mountains.
While living in a vacation-forever type of mode some days may seem like the best thing ever, I also find myself getting stressed out that I’m not moving forward or getting on top of any of my goals, which I so specifically planned and set out for myself in the beginning of the year. Some days it feels like I’m almost letting myself down spending a day procrastinating away the time and WHOOPS – there goes another week again.
So! I decided I needed a serious summer detox! My type of summer detox does not include a well executed meal plan full of green smoothies or 100 squats per day, although you can totally add that if you like, but rather of a heavy dose of brain dumping and planning…
